Now Is All There Is

October 10, 2011
Now

It’s in times of loss that we typically step back and think about the meaning of our own lives and our connections with loved ones. Thoughts of things we wish we had said or feelings we wish we had conveyed haunt us as we attempt the futile task of rewriting history in our minds.

Yesterday, I lost a friend, and right on queue, I’m replaying the last conversation I had with him in my mind. It’s not that I have any huge regrets, but there isn’t closure on that conversation, and it was on me to send an email to punctuate it.

Bittersweet Reflections of K.D. Lang and Steve Jobs

October 6, 2011
Steve Jobs

A couple of days ago, a good friend sent me a text asking me if I would be interested in going to see K.D. Lang at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. It was one of those moments where I couldn’t say yes fast enough – thank you Steven!

In 1992, K.D.’s album Ingénue was released and I remember playing it over and over again in the record store I worked in, listening in awe to her unbelievable vocal range.  Her vocal talents are unmatched in any performer I have ever had the pleasure of watching live.

Global Support for Kids of the Gulf

October 3, 2011

It has been a little over a week since we launched the fundraising campaign for Kids of the Gulf, and the response from people all over the world has been nothing short of incredible. People on 6 continents are supporting the film in a way that I couldn’t have imagined when we first announced the campaign.

92 people have donated so far, and we’ve had over 33,000 visitors to the fundraising page on IndieGoGo. Today, I wanted to say thank you to everyone that is coming together to make Kids of the Gulf possible. We have an incredible team of people that are rallying around the fundraising campaign and the excitement and enthusiasm that everyone is bringing to the table is truly inspiring. Continue Reading…

September 30, 2011
Uncertainty by Jonathan Fields

There comes a time in the creative process, or indeed in life itself, where fear and doubt creep in and threaten the very life of a big idea or major shift in direction. Can this really be done? What if it fails? What if nobody cares? What if I end up broke?

Questions like this can keep truly groundbreaking ideas from ever seeing the light of day. In his new book, Uncertainty, Jonathan Fields deconstructs the journey of brilliant creative endeavors and provides context to the process that amazing work requires in order to be birthed.

Lead Without Followers – a conversation with Dave Ursillo

September 25, 2011
Dave Ursillo

Lead Without Followers, the much anticipated book by Dave Ursillo, is being released on September 26, 2011.  I took a few minutes to have a conversation with Dave last week to discuss the book, and the entire Lead Without Followers Movement.

I had a chance to meet Dave in person at the World Domination Summit in June of this year and he’s every bit as cool, calm and collected in the flesh.  We even jumped out of an airplane together, which was pretty cool indeed.

If you have ever wondered if you were meant to be a leader but weren’t sure who you would lead, this book is for you.   Continue Reading…
