New Beginnings

New Beginnings - Brandon Sutton

Today is a new beginning in a multitude of ways. March begins today, which is also the first full month of my new living arrangement. Today is also the beginning of a major renewal of inspiration and spirit to continue the work I have been called to do through Kids of the Gulf.

It’s the beginning of a 9-day push to achieve a big fundraising goal to help those who are hungry through the Hunger Walk/Run here in Atlanta.

Practicing Empathy In Daily Life

I’ve been thinking a lot about empathy lately, and I’d like to share a few thoughts on the subject.

The Dictionary.com definition of empathy is “the intellectual identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another.”

Last week, I accepted the challenge of caring for my 13-month-old Godson while his parents were traveling on business. I was an unexpected ask for all of us, but I thought it was a good opportunity for me to bond with the little guy and help them out in the process.

Staying Young

As the years pass by, birthdays are not celebrated as they were in my earlier years. See, I don’t really make a big fuss about aging. It is just not an issue for me.

Throughout my 20s, I worked my butt off and barely took any vacation time.  I didn’t do much traveling and although I was enjoying what I was doing, there were definitely a lot of constraints that I tolerated.  It wasn’t until I turned 30 that I felt like I was truly living.
